Soft Bronze Smokey Eye- Keeping Things Neutral

I own wayyyyy too many bronzey eye products. I have blue eyes, so I tend to hoard anything bronze, as it tends to be a flattering shade on us blue eyed gals. If I wear a smokey eye, I try to do it as soft and neutral as possible, because it’s the most flattering for me at this stage in my life. This look is perfectly acceptable for work, and could easily be intensified for an event.

As usual, I started by painting on my war stripes.

I use a blend of three products to get the finish I like.

I had a few breakouts this day, so I took a little more time to spot conceal, which I normally don’t fuss too much about as I like my skin to show some freckles and imperfections.

I started by applying tarte’s Amazonian Clay waterproof cream shadow in Shimmering Bronze all over the eyelid and blended it a bit in the crease.

Then I patted Makeup Geeks’ foiled eyeshadow in Grandstand over the cream shadow. (BTW, the Makeup Geek foiled shadows are NO JOKE and I will be doing a separate post on them because they are so great. So so so so great.)

Then, I blended a bit of a matte brown in the crease and up the brow bone slightly (Dreamer from the tarte Tartelette matte palette.)

I swept that same Dreamer shade along my lower lashes, and swept it outside my eye socket a bit to give a lifted and slightly cat-eyed shadow effect. I tightlined the upper lash line with my usual gel-liner.

I added a waterproof brown liner to my bottom waterline and concealed the inner corners of my eyes to help tidy things up and clean up fallout.

Coats and coats of my new fav mascara and voila!! (is voila still a thing?)

I added a bit of Clinique’s Cheek Pop in Berry to my cheeks (over my MAC mineralize skin finish natural of course) and was very pleased with the turnout.

I’d wear this look anywhere. I’d probably not wear lipstick or anything more colorful than lip balm with it, but when you buy a new lipstick, you MUST test it- just to see…

It was surprisingly more compatible than I thought, and if I was going to go somewhere after work, I’d probably apply this and be happy!

I’ve definitely renewed my love of bronzey eye products, and I’ve worn this look twice since shooting it, so win-win for me!

Here’s a quick shot of the products I used for this look:

  1. Soft bronze smokey eye is right up my alley. I always want to do a smokey eye, but think its too much to put it on for just any old day. I’m going to try this out tomorrow!
