I’ve been on a minimal makeup kick. Winter is always the season I wear more makeup all around- once it starts warming up and the humidity rises, I have to change my game plan. Higher humidity=higher chance for cakey-ness. It’s also true that piling on makeup isn’t necessarily the secret to looking youthful and fresh, and while I’m in no way complaining about getting older, I don’t want to practice any habits that age me unnecessarily. Keeping that in mind, I’ve done the impossible- I’ve gone without my signature black eyeliner for almost two weeks, and I’ve kept my foundation routine as light as I feel I can while still evening out my skin tone.
This is the palette that launched an obsession with all things makeup. I saw this palette in a magazine, and although I’d heard of the original Naked palette, I never had the desire to own it. When I saw this one, however, I’m pretty sure I made one of those dream boards just try to materialize it out of thin air. I reach for this palette when I have no clue what I want to do with my makeup. I reach for this palette when I want whatever I do to turn out brilliantly. Even though I love this palette, I still get in a bit of a rut with it, so sitting down with a camera and no plan is the best way for me to push my comfort zone and get a bit more use out of a go-to favorite.
There are so many advantages to being the older sister. One of my faves is being able to demand my sister Maggie let me do her makeup and write about her on my blog. Actually, she was really cool about it, and we had a lot of fun making a hair-makeup-photo shoot happen with lots of helpers (both baby and furry baby). She needs no help from me on makeup tips or anything like that- this was purely a chance for me to have complete control over her look, and document it for the interwebs. My motive, if I’m being honest, was to force her to wear lipstick. She’s a no muss, no fuss lip product person, and since my love of lipsticks is well documented, it was time for the two worlds to collide.
I’m in full denial about the snow outside my door. It’s frigid, snow is everywhere (not as bad as the East Coast- sorry Boston) and I’m over it. In order to fool myself into thinking it will be warm soon, I decided to put on some Spring/Summer makeup. This is the makeup I go for when I know I’m going to live in sunglasses- minimal eye makeup, maximum lips.
I’m pretty much a ‘buy it when I need it’ girl. Usually, I have a few wish list items that hang around, but mostly I buy what I need when I need it. That being said, these days there are few things I really need. For the ‘things I want’ category, I kept my eyes peeled for Cyber Monday deals to take the best advantage of special offers. My most recent purchases are a mix of ‘things I need’ and ‘things I want’.
